Your first visit

At Wells Chiropractic and Wellness Centre we take your whole story into account.

On your first consultation you will be asked to fill out a questionnaire allowing us to compile a confidential case study. Diagnosis and treatment can only be effective if we know about your lifestyle and medical history. We may ask about your occupation; leisure activities, and even your diet.

Working at a computer for long hours, for example, can have detrimental effect on health, as can certain foods; just as regular sports activity can lead to chronic pain, and emotional stress can take its toll physically. We won’t pry, of course, but the more information we have, the better equipped we are to recommend the best possible treatment.

Ashley Wells will then carry out a thorough orthopaedic, neurological and physical examination. Where required, X-ray films and other laboratory tests will be carried out in order to make a comprehensive diagnosis. This first consultation takes about 40 minutes.

On your return visit, you will be presented with a ‘Report of Findings’ detailing all examination results. You will be advised as to whether or not chiropractic can help, how many treatments are likely to be needed, and an outline of fees. This appointment lasts 30 minutes.

The number and frequency of further treatments varies for every individual. Visits tend to be closer together to begin with as an ‘intensive’ phase of care is often needed; followed by less frequent treatments during the ‘stabilisation’ phase. Progress checks are carried out every 12 visits to assess exactly how much progress has been made.

Treatment visits can be short as 10-15 minutes. Chiropractic adjustments aren’t painful, but you may feel slightly stiff or uncomfortable later the same day, or even the following day. This quickly wears off and is caused by the body readjusting to its new 'alignment’. In fact, a little soreness is a good sign as it shows that the body is beginning to stabilise itself.

If you unsure then please ask for a free 10-minute initial consultation to meet with Ashley Wells and discuss your concerns. This is a confidential no-obligation appointment, at no cost to you.
